About CFB Power Board

CFB Power Board rates every NCAA football team, FBS through Division III, from game results: scores, opponents, and venues.

What we publish

  • Power ratings for all 682 teams in the 2026 dataset, in points.
  • Full rankings for FBS, FCS, Division II, and Division III, plus conference strength on the same national scale.
  • Team profiles with a written breakdown, every result with its pregame odds, a rank-by-week chart, schedule strength, and a résumé.
  • Weekly picks: a projected winner, margin, and win probability for every game, graded after each final.
  • A playoff projection: the current 12-team field and bracket.
  • Weekly reports covering the top 25, the biggest movers, and upsets.

Why computer rankings

Polls start from preseason expectations and do not show their work. CFB Power Board uses game results only, the formula is published on the methodology page, and the complete output is available as a free JSON download.

How it works

Each completed game is treated as evidence about the gap between two teams. All 2,436 games this season are solved together, adjusting for home field, limiting the value of blowouts, rewarding wins, and giving recent weeks a little more weight. Strength of schedule is built in: beating a strong team moves a rating more than beating a weak one. There are no preseason priors, no polls, and no recruiting rankings in the formula.

Data and updates

Scores and schedules come from College Football Data. During the season the site checks for new results every morning and several times across each Saturday night, then republishes when anything changes. It is not a live scoreboard, so allow a few hours after a game ends for it to appear.

Independence

CFB Power Board is not affiliated with the NCAA, the College Football Playoff, any conference, or any school. Team names and logos belong to their respective owners and are shown only to identify teams. The site is supported by advertising served by Google; advertisers have no influence on the ratings, and no team or sponsor can pay to change a ranking.

Who we are

CFB Power Board is published by Lemony Click, LLC, a software studio. The rating model and site were created by Andrew Lemons.
